YOUR KAROO JOURNEY

ACCOMMODATION

Riders will stay in whimsical teepee tents with lux camp furnishings, fresh white linen and plush down duvets. At night time, the campsite will have low light to provide the optimum opportunity to view the wondrous Karoo night sky. Limited Guest House accommodation is also available.

Participants can look forward to waking up in the Karoo surrounded by beautiful mountains and fresh air. Clean ablution facilities with piping hot showers available on-site.

Two nights’ accommodation, Friday and Saturday night, are included in the entry fee, and each tent accommodates two people. (*SINGLE OPTION AVAILABLE)

We have limited Guest House accommodation options available if Glamping is not for you. Participants can look forward to some of the best-equipped Guest Houses in Town all within walking distance of the event venue.
Two nights accommodation, Friday and Saturday night, included in the entry fee for two people sharing. (*SINGLE OPTION AVAILABLE)

You can book a non-rider companion weekend pass along with your entry at R9450 per person sharing. Companions will then be able to share the whole experience with you. A companion will thus also receive 7 delicious meals (Friday lunch to Sunday lunch), all beverages included as well as the shared luxury tented or Guest House accommodation.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

You can look forward to delicious locally produced lamb-inspired dishes, live music and beautiful mountain views. Each sundown goes hand in hand with a glass of wine after a long day of exploring.

Friday: A light lunch is available upon arrival, and dinner will entail a Lamb Spit Braai.
Saturday: You can look forward to a Karoo breakfast, locally made cheese & salami platters with craft beer for lunch, and the three-course Karoo-inspired dinner paired with a funky owl-themed dress-up party.
Sunday: Includes a Karoo breakfast and a celebratory gourmet burger lunch.

All beverages for the duration of the event including craft beer, gin, wine etc. comes complimentary with your entry.

Water are supplied for the water points and consumption during each stage. There will also be still water at the venue for you to help yourself at anytime.

SUPPORT AND SERVICES

Our enthusiastic support staff will be available at base camp and at water points to repair your trusty carbon steed if need be. Experienced medical staff will always be close by to assist should any tumbles happen.

It is advisable to carry tubes, a master link and a replaceable dropout (remember it is unique to every bike) with you. There will be a support vehicle waiting at one of the water points should you not be able to ride any further

A dedicated E-Bike charging station will be available near the main building. Remember to bring your charger and double-check whether the charger is securely fastened and charging. A backup generator will be on standby to supply power in case of load shedding. Don’t forget to select the E-Bike category during the entry process, as this helps us keep track of how many charging stations we need to set up during the event.

Dedicated bike wash staff members will rinse your bike and lube your chain after each day’s ride. Leave your bike in the queue for the wash, and staff members will tend to your bike as soon as possible.

Trained medical personnel will be on the route to handle any emergencies as well as at the finish. More serious cases will be transferred to a local hospital, where a more comprehensive service is available. Please remember to carry the details of your medical insurance with, in case of hospitalisation.

Complimentary bike mechanics will ensure that your bikes are squeaky clean after each ride, and will be available to assist with any mechanical problems. Any parts used will be on your own account.

Why not book a massage for Saturday afternoon to relax whilst surrounded by beautiful mountains? Massage packages need to be booked online with your entry at R750.

WHAT TO DO AND ENTERTAINMENT

Wander through town and discover the many arts and crafts, coffee shops, restaurants, museums and historical buildings. If you don’t feel like walking, just take the donkey car shuttle service which is a fun experience on its own!

Explore the whimsical Owl House during your stay in Nieu-Bethesda. You will discover the artistic genius of Helen Martins in her house of wonder.

Enjoy a complimentary beer tasting on the second-day lunch at Two Goats Deli and Brewery.

Nieu Bethesda has a rich artistic culture. There is a variety of artwork on display in many galleries across town.

Take a ride with Jakob van Staden in his donkey car.

Walk along the historical water furrows into town and discover the many delights the town has to offer such as arts and crafts, coffee shops, the Owl House Museum and much more.
